HPC is a twin-EPR™ site being developed jointly by EDF and CGN in the United Kingdom. As the first nuclear new build project to be undertaken in the UK for 25 years, HPC presents many challenges to an industry the is undergoing a generational transition.

Nuclear Consulting has provided professional services to HPC since 2012 and has developed a close working relationship with the client to provide a flexible offering in response to the changing needs of this £20bn mega-project through its lifecycle.

Our significant contributions to HPC over nearly a decade have included:

  • Specialist support to developing UK generic and site-specific safety cases
  • Maintaining regulator interaction and representing the client in regulatory interventions
  • Creating a nuclear business process for HPC Commissioning from a clean sheet
  • Developing License Condition compliance arrangements for submission to national regulators
  • Providing independent challenge and peer review of nuclear design and arrangements
  • Advising on strategic aspects of programme delivery including organisational capability
  • Creating UK-context nuclear compliance arrangements in accordance with IAEA standards
  • Providing nuclear subject matter expertise and technical leadership for delivery of a £50m digital transformation programme
